Full refurbishment for Genie aerial work platform at Prolift Access

Powered Access refurbishment

Engineer Marcus Dutfield with his fully refurbished 1993 Genie AWP-19 aerial work platform

The Genie AWP-19 before refurbishment

Prolift Access engineer Marcus Dutfield has just put the finishing touches on a full refurbishment of a 1993 Genie AWP-19 aerial work platform.

Marcus has spent many hours meticulously working on the 23-year-old machine, and now has it looking and running as good as new.

Based at Prolift’s main depot in Wellington, Marcus completely stripped the machine down to its base and checked all parts and components for wear.

It was then shotblasted, resprayed and reassembled. During reassembly, chain rollers, mast rollers and chains were replaced, and various wiring repairs were completed. Both loading wheels were replaced, and a new battery was fitted.

New decals were added to the AWP-19, which was then given a load function test and a full LOLER examination.

Prolift’s regional engineering manager Terry Cole said: “Marcus has worked extremely hard on this machine and really has done an excellent job.

“He has encountered some difficult problems during the process, but has overcome them all and the machine is looking fantastic.

“It goes to show how a full refurbishment can extend the life of an older machine, at a fraction of the cost of buying a new one.”

For advice on how we can help refurbish your used powered access equipment, call Terry Cole at our Wellington depot on 01823 665902 or email [email protected].

Prolift can offer servicing and repairs for all types of powered access machinery, and have a range of service maintenance agreements available that can be tailored to suit your requirements.

What powered access do I need for my next job?

Our Hinowa GoldLift 1480 was perfect for both indoor and outdoor work at the Church of St Bartholomew at Crewkerne

No matter how difficult or challenging the site, Prolift Access are here to make sure you get the best possible equipment to work at height safely.

Our extensive hire fleet contains everything from electric pusharound scissor lifts to 135ft telescopic booms, as well as truck and trailer-mounted booms and other specialist powered access equipment.

If you have a job coming up but you’re not sure which machine will best suit your requirements and site conditions, give one of our experts a call.

Recently we delivered one of our B45X Hinowa GoldLift 1480 tracked booms to the Church of St Bartholomew at Crewkerne in Somerset.

Powered access was required for both internal and external work at the church, and our experts were happy to advise on the most suitable equipment for the job.

The GoldLift 1480 is battery-powered so suitable for indoor work, while it’s narrow travelling width and impressive manoeuvrability made it ideal to work around the layout restrictions inside the church.

It can provide working heights of up to 45ft (14m).

Prolift are able to supply ground protection mats and outrigger pads for machines such as these which use stabilisers, as well as transformers and leads to keep the batteries fully charged.

We also have an extensive range of electric scissors and booms with non-marking tyres that are ideal for interior work, while our rough terrain 4×4 machines can tackle the toughest of outdoor conditions.

If you require powered access to be able to work at height safely, but are unsure which machine you need, give your local depot a call.

We can even provide a free site survey, where one of our powered access experts can visit you and recommend our best kit for the job.
