How to protect grass or turf while using Prolift Access powered access hire machinery

Prolift Access now has temporary roadway systems available for hire to complement its extensive fleet of more than 400 machines.

Ground protection is essential at any time of year when using powered access machinery, but particularly during the winter months when it can be wet and soft underfoot.

By hiring out Ground-Guards, Prolift Access is offering MEWP operators a safe and cost-efficient way of protecting turf or ground while carrying out work.

Ground-Guards RoadTrack panels, measuring 4ft x 8ft, weigh just 39kg each and can be installed quickly and easily by hand without the need for a crane.

But despite this, the lightweight plastic panels are capable of taking vehicles of up to 60 tonnes and are ideal for manoeuvring heavy machinery with minimal disturbance to the ground.

As well as protecting grass or turf, the Ground-Guards can prevent powered access machinery from becoming bogged down or stranded.

They have been designed as a practical and cost-effective alternative to stone roadways, and can be quickly and easily repositioned as the job progresses.

A lorry load of 500 Ground-Guards is enough to make a 600m roadway. Delivery and collection would involve just two lorry journeys, compared to 64 trips to create and remove a stone roadway of the same size.

Four smaller RoadTrack panel sizes are also available with roadway tread. Visit our Ground-Guards temporary roadway system hire page for more details, and to contact us with your requirements for a quote.

Taunton’s Christmas lights are put in place at Market House using an SD210 boom lift from Prolift Access

Prolift Access have been helping Taunton prepare for its big 2013 Christmas lights switch-on this weekend.

The town is holding its annual Christmas Street Fair on Sunday, November 17, and the Christmas light finale – due to start at 5pm – is being provided by a community initiative called Make Taunton Sparkle.

Prolift Access have been keen to support the initiative, offering reduced hire rates and delivering one of our specialist boom lifts to assist with festive preparations this week.

The 2013 Taunton Christmas Street Fair gets under way from 10.30am, offering visitors more than 100 stalls, demonstrations, exhibitons, live music, fun and games. The Christmas lights finale, including the big switch-on, will take place from 5pm.

The SD210 combines Niftylift’s trailer-mounted and self-propelled product ranges, and is among a fleet of more than 400 machines available to hire from Prolift Access. Click here to view the entire Prolift Access hire fleet.

Mobile access towers a ‘versatile and logical choice’ for temporary access work

The first ever Tower Week is promoting the benefits of using mobile access towers in the workplace this week.

Industry body PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association) has organised the week to encourage safety and best practice as well as showcase the versatility and productivity of using towers.

PASMA managing director Peter Bennett said: “Towers are a familiar part of the workplace landscape. They enjoy a proven track record for safety and productivity and are the natural and logical choice for a great many access tasks.

“PASMA Tower Week will turn the spotlight on this versatile piece of access equipment and give it the prominence and attention it rightly deserves.

“It will showcase the latest developments in tower design, assembly techniques and safe practice, and highlight why towers are increasingly chosen in preference to other forms of temporary access.”

At Prolift Access, we have a full range of industrial tower systems for sale from our e-shop. Prices start at £321.01 for the smallest of the Lyte Industrial Folding Tower systems, which is available in eight different platform heights between 0.6m and 6.1m.

Helix and HiLyte Industrial Tower Systems are also for sale with platform heights from 2.2m to 12.2m, available in single (0.85m) or double (1.45m) width. Visit our industrial scaffold towers e-shop for full details.

We also offer a range of PASMA training courses. Click on the link for more details.

A range of resources and diary of PASMA Tower Week events have been made available on the new website.
