Andy Pearson (back row, second from right) with his Carl’s Charity Ride team at Prolift Access before setting off on a 90-mile cycle
Prolift Access managing director Andy Pearson swapped powered access for pedal power at the weekend to raise money for a hospital and community care charity.
Andy organised Carl’s Charity Ride in support of two close friends who have undergone treatment for cancer, and was joined on the 90-mile cycle by his wife Ali and 13 other friends.
The group rode from Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset, to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon – the hospitals where their two friends have been treated.
The cycle ride, which gained generous sponsorship from Niftylift and Prolift Access, took around six hours on Saturday.
Andy’s JustGiving page has also raised more than £1,500 for the Brighter Futures charity, which supports Great Western Hospital and community healthcare services across Wiltshire. Anyone wishing to donate can still do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/andy-pearson3.
Ringwood depot manager Peter Drew with two of the new HR12s from Niftylift
Prolift Access have seen their fleet size expand to more than 500 machines after adding a range of new Niftylift boom lifts this summer.
The Somerset-based company has recently taken delivery of new HR12s, HR15s and HR21s to reach the milestone just four years after being formed by managing director Andy Pearson.
The majority of the newly delivered HR12s are based at Prolift’s newest depot in Ringwood, Hampshire, which opened early last year to cover the south of England. The Ringwood depot has seen its fleet size expand significantly over the 15 months.
Prolift now operates out of three depots which cover the entire South West, with an extensive hire fleet ranging from low level pusharound scissors to 80ft booms and telehandlers.
Pearson said: “We are delighted to work closely with Niftylift who offer a unique product range and a great after-sales service. I am sure Niftylift will feature heavily in our expansion plans for the future.”

Lyte’s new range of HIPOD PAS250 Podium Steps
Lyte’s new range of HIPOD Podium Steps, developed to meet the new PAS250 safety standard, are now available to buy from the Prolift Access e-shop.
The HIPODs, which are available in three different sizes, have been designed by Lyte to be the future of low level work platform solutions.
These new HIPODs have an anti-surf option which can be adjusted easily by disengaging two of the castors and replacing them with a slot-in anti-slip foot when required.
The HIPOD 1000 has adjustable platform heights of 0.96m and 0.71m, and has been manufactured with industrial ballasts that ensure it stays safe and secure without the need for stabilisers. It can fit through standard door frames without the need to tilt it.
The HIPOD 1200 (0.95m and 1.2m) and HIPOD 1500 (1.26m and 1.51m) also have two adjustable platform heights. Cleverly positioned ballasts eradicate the need for stabilisers and still allows it to fit through a standard doorway while erected.
This innovative range is unlike any other on the market and has been developed to meet the new PAS250 standard, launched to provide minimum safety and performance criteria for podium steps.
That’s not to say existing podium steps are unsafe – the original Lyte Podium Steps meet all Work at Height Regulations requirements and offer an excellent alternative to stepladders – but until now there has been no formal safety standard for low level work platforms.
PASMA has sponsored the development of PAS250, and any low level work platforms or podiums designed in accordance with PAS250 apply current best practice. Read PASMA’s PAS250 FAQs for more information on the standard.
Prices for one HIPOD podium start at £424.35 but discounts are available for multiple orders. All prices include free UK mainland delivery. Contact us at [email protected] or 01823 653927 with your requirements for a competitive quote.
